Verse 2

पातु वो नीलकण्ठस्य कण्ठः श्यामाम्बुदोपमः । गौरीभुजलता यत्र विद्युल्लेखेव राजते।।२।।

पातु वः नील-कण्ठस्य कण्ठः श्याम-अम्बुद-उपमः। गौरी-भुज-लता यत्र विद्युत्-लेखा इव राजते।।2।।

May the neck of (the black-throated deity) Siva, resembling a dark cloud, protect you ! - (the neck) whereon the creeper-like arm of Parvati shines like a streak of lightning.

 नटी -- (प्रविश्य) आर्य इयमस्मि.  Actress - (Entering) Sir. Here I am (आर्य = Sir इयम्=This(fem.) अस्मि = I am ) Actress - (Entering) Sir. Here I am सूत्रधारः ---- आर्ये स्वागतं ते. (आर्ये  = O Lady (Vocative case of आर्या) स्वागतम् = welcome,  ते=to you) Director - Lady, my greetings to you. नटी -- आज्ञापयत्वार्यः को नियोगोऽनुष्ठीयतामिति. Actress - May your honour command what duty is to be executed by me (आज्ञापयतु = may command आर्यः = your honour कः = what नियोगः = duty अनुष्ठीयताम् = to e executed इति = thus ) सूत्रधारः --- आर्ये. ('चिरसङ्गीतोपासनेन' इत्यादि पठित्वा.') अस्ति किमप्यस्माकं गेहेऽशितव्यं न वेति. Verse 7

तयोरिदं सत्सुरतोत्सवाश्रयं नयप्रचारं व्यवहारदुष्टताम्। खलस्वभावं भवितव्यतां तथा चकार सर्वं किल शूद्रको नृपः।।७।। King Sudraka has delineated in that (excellent) way these, in connection with those two, namely, the course of virtuous life based on the pleasures of true love, corruptness of legal procedure, the nature of vilains, and (the workings of) Destiny. तयोः इदम् सत्-सुरत-उत्सव-आश्रयम् नय-प्रचारम् व्यवहार-दुष्टताम्। खल-स्वभावम् भवितव्यताम् तथा चकार सर्वं किल शूद्रकः नृपः।।7।। तयोः of those two इदम् this सत् true सुरत love (romantic or sexual) उत्सव pleasure आश्रयम् based on नय virtuous (life) प्रचारम् course (conducting of) व्यवहार legal procedure दुष्टताम् corruptness खल villain स्वभावम् nature भवितव्यताम् workings of तथा that way चकार did सर्वम् all किल indeed शूद्रकः Shudraka नृपः King
