Verse 1

पर्यङ्कग्रन्थिबन्धद्विगुणितभुजगाश्लेषसंवीतजानोरन्तःप्राणावरोधव्युपरतसकलज्ञानानुरुद्धेन्द्रियस्य।

आत्मन्यात्मानमेव व्यपगतकरणं पश्तस्तत्त्वदृष्ट्या शम्भोर्वः पातु शून्येक्षणघटितलयब्रह्मलग्नः समाधिः।।१।।

पर्यङ्क-ग्रन्थि-बन्ध-द्विगुणित-भुजग-आश्लेष-संवीत-जानोः अन्तः-प्राण-अवरोध-व्युपरत-सकल-ज्ञान-अनुरुद्ध-इन्द्रियस्य।

आत्मनि आत्मानम् एव व्यपगतकरणम् पश्यतः तत्त्व-दृष्टया शम्भोः वः पातु शून्य-ईक्षण-घटित-लय-ब्रह्म-लग्नः समाधिः।।1।।

May the abstract meditation (Samadhi) of Siva, concentrated on Brahma owing to the (intense) absorption produced by the absence of any perception, protect you! - (of Siva), whose knees wrapped round the doubly-jointed fold of the snake while he sits having formed a knot (with his legs) in the Paryanka posture (by bending them cross-wise) : (the operation of) whose sense is so suspended as to cause the cessation of all perception, by reason of the vital airs being confined within; and who, with the eye of truth, is visualizing within himself his own self (as the Universal soul) - with a total identification of the two (with the function of the senses having totally ceased)

    14. अनुरुद्ध suspended

    15. इन्द्रियस्य of the senses इन्द्रिय

    16. आत्मनि  within himself

    17. आत्मानम् his own self

    18. व्यपगतकरणम् disappearance

    19. पश्यतः of the one who is visualizing(पश्यत्)

    20. तत्त्व truth

    21. दृष्टया by eye (दृष्टि)

    22. शम्भोः of Shiva (शम्भु)

    23. वः (accusative) you all

    24. पातु he should protect

    25. शून्य absence

    26. ईक्षण perception

    27. घटित produced

    28. लय absorption

    29. ब्रह्म (ब्रह्मन्) brahma

    30. लग्नः concentrated on

    31. समाधिः samadhi
